Postira is located on the north side of the island of Brač viewing at the coastal town of Omiš and its symbiosis of mountains, rivers and the sea. Postira is one of the most famous marinas in Croatia for the number of Croatian great persons who were born in or originate from Postira. Of course, the most important name is the name of Vladimir Nazor, the poet whose birthplace was his frequent inspiration. Apart from the great persons, Postira is known for the fish factory that fed the island of Brač, both literally and figuratively. Postira has once been a village of farmers and fishermen which is witnessed by the narrow streets („kala“) and old stone houses by the sea, which are nowadays, like the whole island of Brač, is an unavoidable summer destination of all lovers of the pre-Dalmatian ambience.
